The 1945-S dime is known with three mintmark styles: the Trumpet Tail, Ball Serif, and Micro mintmarks.  This is the Ball Serif.  The lower serif normally has a flat spot.  On this coin that flat spot is on the upper serif, indicating that the punch was upside down or inverted.
