The 1945-S quarter is known in 2 mintmark styles: the trumpet tail and the ball serif.  This is the trumpet tail.  Normally the large straight serif is at the top.  It is obvious this mintmark was punched in upside down or inverted.

This coin is also a nice doubled die reverse showing as a clockwise spread on QUARTER and the left stem.  It is listed as DDR-003.
